Woodfibre LNG at 65% Complete: Partnership Driving Progress

May 25, 2026

Every milestone at Woodfibre LNG has been built by people.

From the skilled tradespeople and marine crews working on site each day, to Indigenous partners, contractors, suppliers, engineers, local businesses, and community members — thousands of people are helping move this project forward together.

Now more than 65% complete, Woodfibre LNG is taking shape as one of the largest private capital investments in Canadian history and a major driver of economic activity across British Columbia and Canada.

Project progress to date includes:
• 16 large-scale modules safely delivered to site
• More than 1,300 workers currently on site
• Billions of dollars invested into the Canadian economy
• Thousands of jobs and contracting opportunities supported across BC and beyond
• Significant for local and Indigenous businesses

This project is also helping demonstrate a different approach to major project development in Canada. An approach grounded in partnership, environmental oversight, and shared accountability.

Together with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), Woodfibre LNG has established a model where the Nation serves not only as a partner, but also as an independent environmental regulator through the Squamish Nation Environmental Assessment Agreement process.

That includes:
• Indigenous-led environmental oversight and monitoring
• Legally binding environmental conditions and requirements
• Ongoing collaboration on marine protection, wildlife management, and cultural stewardship
• Shared focus on long-term environmental responsibility in Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound

As construction continues toward completion in 2027, the next phase of the project is coming into view: Canadian LNG reaching global markets from the shores of Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound, supported by a project model built on partnership, accountability, and responsible development.
