During the “Insights from the C-Suite” panel at the BC Natural Resources Forum (BCNRF), Woodfibre LNG CEO Luke Schauerte joined other executives to explore what it truly takes to build, and keep, energy and natural resources investment in BC.

Woodfibre LNG is supporting Ocean Wise’s kelp restoration initiative, or “Seaforestation,” to revive critical underwater habitats of Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound.

With more than 300 trails, Squamish is recognized as one of the premier mountain biking destinations in the world. But behind the trail maps and race results lies something far more important: a volunteer-powered system that keeps the trails open and rideable.

From early groundwork and foundations to vertical construction, module arrivals, and the start of marine piling, this summer brought visible progress at the Woodfibre LNG site, moving the project steadily past the halfway point.

Luke Schauerte, Chief Executive Officer of Woodfibre LNG, recently took the stage at the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Indigenous Opportunities Forum, to share how the relationship between the company and the Squamish Nation has resulted in a model for how major projects should be developed.

Mill Creek, which runs through the centre of our site, is a salmon-bearing stream currently home to spawning pink salmon. Having a spawning ground on our site is both a privilege and a responsibility, underscoring the need to ensure construction activities are carefully managed to protect the fish and the habitat they depend on.

Woodfibre LNG’s reclamation work is helping restore Howe Sound, removing legacy pollution and creating new marine habitats to support the region’s environmental recovery.
