What does it feel like to work alongside a smart and talented team, for a common goal you all share?

For Sean Cheon, Woodfibre LNG was that opportunity. Since joining the team, he has been able to pursue interests he has had since grade school, while putting down roots for his family in a region he has grown to love.

Meet Sean

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Sean moved with his family to New Brunswick at the age of 14. His interest in the energy industry started early during a school field trip to a local refinery where he saw hundreds of skilled workers contributing towards a common goal: to process and export Canadian resources.

And that early experience stayed with him.

He later moved to Alberta to pursue his degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary, and landed his first two jobs in Alberta working for major Canadian petroleum producers Suncor and Imperial Oil.

Sean eventually pursued opportunities in neighbouring B.C., where he found a love for the natural beauty of the province, especially the Sea-to-Sky region. Woodfibre felt like the perfect fit.

The Right Work and the Right Team

For Sean, finding the right fit was about balancing work he enjoyed with a team he loved being a part of. At Woodfibre, he found both.

Sean’s focus as a Process Control Engineer is on helping the facility run smoothly and safely, with clearly defined processes and roles. He specializes in application engineering, advanced process control, process optimization and operator training simulations.

What he admires about the team is their shared passion for the project, but also the unique training, skills and industry know-how that Woodfibre has assembled to bring this project to life.

As construction surpasses 75% completion and the final push begins before making the facility operational in 2027, each team member brings something unique to the table. Sean and his team of engineers are a central and invaluable part of that work.

Take Your Next Step

At Woodfibre LNG, every career is unique. Sean’s story reflects what is possible when a career opportunity aligns with your ambitions and the life you want to build.

Whether you’re an experienced professional, a skilled worker ready for your next challenge or someone looking to build a new future from the ground up, Woodfibre LNG offers more than a job. It’s a chance to do meaningful work, learn from people around the world and build a life in the Sea-to-Sky region.
