Woodfibre LNG is a project defined by a series of industry firsts. Not only is it a modular LNG terminal designed to deliver fully electrified, net zero liquefaction at commercial scale, but it is also the first major industrial development in Canada to have a non-treaty First Nation serve as an environmental regulator.

Just a week after receiving its liquefaction module, Woodfibre LNG has reached 65% completion with the arrival of its powerhouse module at site — the 16th module delivered for the project to date.

Two radio communication towers are required to be installed at the Woodfibre LNG facility site, located approximately 7 km south of Squamish, BC.

Weighing 10,847 metric tonnes, the liquefaction module is the heaviest module to become part of the future Woodfibre LNG facility. Occupying a footprint roughly the size of a football field, it is also among the largest.

Selena Basi, Vice President of Corporate Relations at Woodfibre LNG, shared insights into how major projects can move forward in a way that strengthens communities, respects Indigenous rights, and advances environmental performance.

During the “Insights from the C-Suite” panel at the BC Natural Resources Forum (BCNRF), Woodfibre LNG CEO Luke Schauerte joined other executives to explore what it truly takes to build, and keep, energy and natural resources investment in BC.

The Pretreatment module and the Process Utility module mark the 13th and 14th modules arriving to the Woodfibre LNG project site, pushing construction progress to close to 60 per cent complete.

Announcement of the Woodfibre LNG Interconnection Project Stage 2; a project being undertaken with BC Hydro to build an additional power line to ensure that Woodfibre LNG has reliable access to clean and renewable power.

Woodfibre LNG is supporting Ocean Wise’s kelp restoration initiative, or “Seaforestation,” to revive critical underwater habitats of Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound.

As we close another busy year of forward momentum at Woodfibre LNG, let’s take a moment to celebrate what we’ve achieved together, reflect on what we’ve learned, and look ahead to the work that will carry us into the next phase.

Outlining progress toward delivering the world’s first net zero LNG export facility, the update highlights progress in several facets of the project including environmental stewardship, Indigenous partnership, safety, and community investment.
