What does it look like to build something meaningful at work while also building the life you always wanted at home?

Tyler Paquette shares a glimpse into his experience as Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor at Woodfibre LNG.

Meet Tyler

Tyler Paquette is the Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor at Woodfibre LNG, where he brings more than two decades of experience in industrial operations, maintenance, and electrical systems leadership. His role balances time between Woodfibre’s head office in Vancouver and its LNG export terminal in Átl’ḵa7tsem (Howe Sound). His primary responsibility is managing the team that oversees and maintains the site’s electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning.

With training as a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Tyler has built skills beyond the technical aspects of his work, and stepped up as a leader and mentor across many facets of the operation.

Outside of work, Tyler is deeply family-oriented and values the lifestyle that living in the Sea-to-Sky region has made possible. A competitive mountain biker, the only thing Tyler loves more than being in the outdoors — trail running, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, camping and more — is sharing these things with his wife and two young children.

Tyler’s energetic and people-focused nature, alongside his skills as an electrician, have made him an invaluable addition to the Woodfibre team since he joined nearly two years ago.

A Life Changing Move

For Tyler, being part of the project means contributing to the world’s first net-zero LNG export facility while building a life in the Sea-to-Sky region with his family.

In past career roles, Tyler struggled to balance his career that frequently took him on the road, his passion for the outdoors, and his most important responsibility of all: being the best husband and father he can. Since joining Woodfibre LNG, found a new rhythm, enjoying time with his family every day and working on a fulfilling project without sacrificing his favourite pastimes or his health.

At Woodfibre LNG, supporting employees goes beyond creating opportunities on site. It means fostering a workplace where people can grow professionally while staying connected to their families, communities, and the lives they are building outside of work.

Take Your Next Step

As the project gets closer every day to final commissioning and start up, we know that Woodfibre’s success will be conditioned on assembling an industry-leading team for the long term. We’re bringing Canadians together in the Sea to Sky and in Vancouver to pursue a shared mission: raising the bar for projects in Canada and providing responsibly produced energy to the world.

Tyler’s story is a reminder that the people behind the project are just as important as the project itself. In his pursuit of balance, wellness, and a rewarding project to be part of, his story started here.
