Our Story Starts Here – Meet Kelly Steeves
Aug 11, 2026

What does it feel like when your career leads you right back to where your story began?
Kelly Steeves shares her experience helping lead engineering support at Woodfibre LNG, on the very same site where her great-grandfather once worked.
Meet Kelly
For Kelly, joining Woodfibre LNG was more than a career opportunity, it was a homecoming.
Growing up in Lions Bay, Kelly spent years travelling the Sea to Sky corridor, often passing the former Woodfibre pulp mill site where decades earlier, her great-grandfather had worked as an electrician. This connection to the land and the legacy of industry in Átl’ḵa7tsem (Howe Sound) would come to shape her own path. Today, Kelly has come full circle, helping lead engineering support for one of Canada’s most significant energy projects on the very same site.
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Harvard, she built deep technical expertise and a strong reputation as an engineering professional over her first professional positions at Shell and LNG Canada. Since joining Woodfibre in mid 2025, she has been leading a team to design and execute the processes, systems, and structure that will enable first-of-its-kind net zero LNG production.
Kelly’s career has taken her to different locations, some urban and some remote, but Vancouver and the Sea to Sky region have always felt like home. At Woodfibre LNG, she found something unique: the chance to contribute to a world-class project while staying rooted in the place she has always loved.
A Career Rooted in Values
For Kelly, it’s also about what the project stands for. Working on a project committed to environmental responsibility and innovation aligns with what matters most to her, protecting the natural environment while helping meet the world’s energy needs.
Being part of the world’s first net zero LNG export facility means contributing to a project that is raising the standard for responsible energy development in Canada and beyond. For Kelly, that sense of purpose adds meaning to her work every day.
At Woodfibre LNG, supporting employees means creating a workplace where people can thrive professionally while maintaining strong ties to their roots, communities, and life outside of work.
Take Your Next Step
As the project gets closer every day to final commissioning and start up, we know that Woodfibre’s success will be conditioned on assembling an industry-leading team for the long term. We’re bringing Canadians together in the Sea to Sky and in Vancouver to pursue a shared mission: raising the bar for projects in Canada and providing responsibly produced energy to the world.
Kelly’s story is a reminder that the people behind the project are just as important as the project itself. Every career journey is different and sometimes it leads you right back home.
In her pursuit of purpose, connection, and meaningful work, her story started here.
