Woodfibre LNG Provides $25,000 to support Marine Search and Rescue in Squamish

Woodfibre LNG has provided $25,000 to Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 4 in Squamish to support new equipment and training resources for its volunteer crews.

The contribution, the largest donation received by the RCMSAR in Squamish, has helped fund a new Raymarine Cyclone radar system to support safe navigation in limited visibility, specialized Manta SAR helmets for rescue operations, a vacuum spine board to safely stabilize and transport injured patients, and a rescue mannequin for realistic training scenarios.

Woodfibre LNG has supported RCMSAR in Squamish for the past 10 years.

“Support like this makes a significant difference for a volunteer station like ours. The $25,000 contribution from Woodfibre LNG has allowed us to invest in equipment that directly supports the safety and readiness of our crew. These are resources our volunteers will rely on as they train and respond to emergencies on Howe Sound. We’re very grateful for Woodfibre LNG’s continued support of our station,” said Rob Walter, Station Leader and Coxswain.

The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue’s Station 4 is a volunteer-run marine search and rescue station serving Squamish and Howe Sound. Volunteers contribute upwards of 200 hours each year to training and maintaining the skills required to respond to marine emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Since construction started in 2023, Woodfibre LNG has contributed more than $3.7 million to community organizations in Squamish and the Sea to Sky region, supporting local initiatives that strengthen the communities where we live and operate.

The Woodfibre LNG Project is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility that will produce 2.1 million tonnes of LNG for export annually, being built near the community of Squamish on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). Woodfibre LNG is the first industrial project in Canada to recognize a non-treaty Indigenous government, Squamish Nation, as a full environmental regulator. The Woodfibre LNG facility will be the world’s first net zero LNG facility when it is completed in 2027.
