Our Story Starts Here: The People Shaping Woodfibre LNG

Blog

Jun 19, 2026

Woodfibre LNG is on track to come online as the world’s first net zero LNG export facility in 2027. With construction over 65% complete, and new milestones continuing to land, our focus is shifting toward the next chapter: operations.

That means building our team for the long term. Some who will oversee the operational phase have already joined us, but there are many more still to come. Over the coming months, Woodfibre LNG will be filling out the team that will run the facility — from operators and technicians to engineers, environmental specialists, and support staff. These are skilled, long-term positions, anchored on the shores of Átl’ḵa7tsem (Howe Sound), with competitive compensation, year-round stability, and meaningful work attached to one of the most distinctive energy projects in the world.

To mark this next chapter, we are putting a spotlight on our team and our opportunities, telling the unique stories of the people who are bringing the project to life. Through short profiles, photo essays, and video features, we’re giving a closer look at where they come from, what they do every day, what they love about working at Woodfibre, and what drew them here in the first place.

A Unique Project, and a One-of-a-Kind Opportunity

Woodfibre LNG is unlike any other facility being built today. We are pioneering operational methods and processes that have never been done before in Canada, and in some cases in the world. We are the first major industrial project in Canada to recognize a non-treaty Indigenous government — Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) — as a full environmental regulator. And we are pioneering fully electrified, modular liquefaction at commercial scale.

For the people building careers here, that adds up to a rare opportunity: the chance to do meaningful, technically demanding, and innovative work on a project that is setting new benchmarks for the LNG industry. To work here is to be part of something bigger: helping establish Canada as a global energy and economic leader, and delivering responsibly produced Canadian LNG to the world. It strengthens domestic supply chains and generates long-term tax revenue for federal, provincial, and local governments — lasting value that extends well beyond the facility itself.

The team we are assembling reflects that ambition. Operators are trained on some of the most advanced systems in the sector. Engineers are solving problems no LNG project has solved before. Environmental specialists work hand-in-hand with Squamish Nation regulators. Local hires from Squamish and the Sea-to-Sky corridor bring community knowledge to the worksite.

We are a uniquely skilled, uniquely motivated group.

Love Where You Live

People have traveled from all over the world to come together and build this site. Those working full time on the site today, who number more than 1300, have access to industry-leading worksite accommodations, living on one of two luxury floatels that help restore routine, promote wellness and bring many of the comforts of home to the workplace.

But floatels are only a temporary measure. For the team overseeing the operational phase, more options are open to put down roots in one of the most beautiful regions of Canada. The Woodfibre facility sits in the Sea to Sky, in one of the most ecologically rich fjords in North America, surrounded by mountains, ocean, and old-growth forest.

Our operations teams can build fulfilling careers in or near Squamish and Vancouver, without giving up evenings at home, weekends with family, or the lifestyle that drew many of them to this part of the world in the first place.

Stories from the Team

Every person on the Woodfibre team came here for a reason. Some are coming home. Some are relocating their families for a fresh start. Some pivoted careers mid-stride to be part of something new. Some have grown with the project from its earliest stages.

We will feature these stories one profile at a time. Each profile will explore:

  • The Journey — how they ended up at Woodfibre LNG
  • The Role — what they actually do, day to day
  • The Purpose — what gets them up in the morning
  • The Lifestyle — what they love doing outside of work
  • The Future — what this opportunity means for their family

The series will roll out across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and the Woodfibre LNG website over the coming months. You will meet team members in their own words — at work and at play, in hard hats and in hiking boots.

These are the people building Woodfibre LNG. They are our neighbours in Squamish, our colleagues across the project, and the people who will keep the facility running safely and responsibly for decades to come.
