The Squamish Enduro brings a unique kind of energy to the community each year. From early morning staging areas to riders lining up at the top of technical descents, race day combines competition, trail culture, and community spirit across some of Squamish’s most iconic terrain.

For Woodfibre LNG, continuing our sponsorship of the Squamish Enduro for 2026 is about supporting an event that reflects a major part of what makes Squamish unique. Mountain biking is deeply connected to the community’s identity, and the Enduro highlights the volunteers, trail builders, riders, and local organizations that help sustain that culture year-round.

This year’s event also carried a personal connection for our team. Woodfibre LNG was pleased to sponsor Tyler Paquette, Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor at Woodfibre, as he participated in the Squamish Enduro for the first time, joining hundreds of riders taking on the demanding trails and technical stages that define the event.

Whether competing for podium positions or simply challenging themselves on race day, riders brought excitement, determination, and enthusiasm to every stage of the weekend.

Supporting the Trails Behind the Event

Woodfibre LNG’s sponsorship of the Squamish Enduro extends beyond race weekend through our support for the Rawk & Route Project — a long-term trail development, revitalization, and restoration initiative led by the Squamish Enduro team.

The initiative reflects the same volunteer-driven culture that helped build Squamish’s reputation as one of the world’s premier mountain biking destinations. Many of the trails used during Enduro competition stages are also heavily used community trails ridden year-round by local residents.

Recent Rawk & Route projects have included:

  • Deliverance (2024): A full rehabilitation of a long-forgotten trail that included drainage improvements, berm construction, alignment corrections, and extensive rock repurposing by hand. The rebuilt trail was later recognized as Trailforks’ Trail of the Month for April 2024.
  • Upper Powersmart (2025): Originally built in the late 1990s, this technically challenging trail sat dormant for nearly 15 years before undergoing a major rebuild and reopening as a blind stage during the 2025 Squamish Enduro.
  • Cougar Ridge (2025): Once known as one of Squamish’s defining freeride trails, Cougar Ridge was revitalized through extensive rehabilitation work that brought the trail back into active use for riders and competition.
  • Credit Line (2026): The next planned Rawk & Route restoration project focused on continued trail improvement and long-term sustainability within the network.

Together, these projects represent hundreds of hours of construction, restoration, and volunteer effort focused on maintaining safe, sustainable, and enjoyable riding experiences within the community. The Rawk & Route Project is about more than trail maintenance — it is focused on long-term trail stewardship and ensuring these spaces remain accessible and sustainable for future riders.

Giving Back Where We Ride

In addition to sponsorship support, Woodfibre LNG employees have also participated directly in trail stewardship efforts.

In 2025, staff joined local trail builders for a volunteer trail build day on Lowdown Part 2 — one of Squamish’s busiest mountain bike trails. Together, crews worked on drainage improvements, berm construction, debris clearing, trail widening, and safety enhancements.

The day reflected an important part of Squamish’s riding culture: the trails exist because people continuously invest time and effort into maintaining them.

As Squamish Enduro Owner and Director Dylan Smith has said, the trail network depends on volunteers, local organizations, and community partners working together to keep the system sustainable and accessible.

Supporting What Makes Squamish Unique

Squamish’s mountain biking network is internationally recognized, but for local residents it is also part of everyday life. The trails support recreation, tourism, youth programs, community events, and outdoor experiences year-round.

For Woodfibre LNG, supporting the Squamish Enduro and contributing to initiatives like the Rawk & Route Project is part of supporting the community that our operational workforce will call home. Sponsorships, volunteerism, and support for local recreation infrastructure are ways we can help support the activities and spaces that matter to residents.

We recognize that maintaining Squamish’s trail network requires ongoing collaboration between volunteers, local organizations, businesses, and riders themselves. We’re proud to continue supporting those efforts alongside the Enduro and the broader biking community.
