Woodfibre LNG was proud to sponsor the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s event, A Conversation with Prime Minister Mark Carney, on May 20, and to attend alongside our valued partners from Squamish Nation.

The event brought together leaders from business, government, Indigenous communities, and industry to discuss how Canada can harness its clean energy advantage to build a stronger and more resilient economy.

Throughout his remarks and featured discussion, Prime Minister Carney spoke about the significant opportunity Canada has in front of it as global demand grows for reliable, responsibly produced energy. He emphasized that Canada is well positioned to play a leading role by leveraging its natural resources, clean electricity advantages, skilled workforce, and trusted international relationships.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of acting with urgency while ensuring projects are developed responsibly, in partnership with Indigenous communities and with a strong focus on long-term sustainability and economic resilience.

For those of us working to advance Canadian LNG, it was encouraging to hear British Columbia recognized as a key part of Canada’s energy future and to hear Woodfibre LNG referenced as examples of the kind of lower-carbon energy development that can help Canada strengthen its global competitiveness.

The event also reinforced the importance of collaboration and partnership. We were especially proud to attend alongside Squamish Nation leadership and partners, reflecting the shared commitment to responsible development and long-term economic opportunity.

At Woodfibre LNG, we remain focused on building one of the world’s lowest-emission LNG export facilities and helping position Canada as a reliable supplier of responsibly produced energy to global markets.

We thank the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade for convening this important conversation and look forward to continuing the work needed to help Canada seize this generational opportunity.
