Woodfibre LNG welcomes Community Partnership Program applications

News Release

Apr 8, 2024

SQUAMISH, BC – Woodfibre LNG is pleased to announce the opening of the spring intake for its Community Partnership Program for 2024.

Woodfibre LNG’s Community Partnership Program supports non-profit organizations that make important contributions to the local community through sports and recreation; education and training; health and wellness; arts and culture; and local search and rescue and marine safety.

In 2023, Woodfibre LNG provided $284,000 in funding through the Community Partnership Program to over 60 local non-profit organizations. This support enabled these groups to accomplish a wide range of objectives, from rescuing and caring for local animals to supporting youth sports and recreation and investing in healthcare.

Woodfibre LNG invites Squamish charity groups and non-profit organizations to apply for up to $5,000 of funding by May 3, 2024.

“Woodfibre LNG’s Community Partnership Program has been supporting hardworking non-profit organizations in Squamish for many years, and it remains a top priority for us to continue to support the important work of local non-profit organizations in the community. We look forward to receiving your submissions and to continuing to support excellent community programming in Squamish and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District,” Christine Kennedy, president, Woodfibre LNG

Here is what some local recipients had to say about the program earlier this year.

“I wanted our veterans to have a place where they can come and feel welcomed and safe. We appreciate the support from Woodfibre LNG in helping us make that place for our members.” – Russ Robertson, President, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 277.

“Squamish is a growing community and more people are starting their families here. To best support prenatal and obstetric care, the hospital really needed new fetal heart rate monitors. Woodfibre LNG came through for us to support the purchase of this important equipment and help us invest in the health of our community,” -Julie Erb, Chair of the Squamish General Hospital Auxiliary Society.
