2025: A Year of Progress and Partnership
Dec 19, 2025
As we close another busy year of forward momentum at Woodfibre LNG, let’s take a moment to celebrate what we’ve achieved together, reflect on what we’ve learned, and look ahead to the work that will carry us into the next phase.
This year we turned plans into visible, tangible progress. Thanks to the focus and professionalism of our team, our partners, our suppliers, and in particular the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), we moved key pieces of the project forward. Foundations were poured for major modules, marine piling advanced, and our construction approach continued to reduce on‑site footprint while accelerating delivery.
We also advanced how we house and care for our workforce. Our floatel solution, designed to minimize pressure on local housing and community services, continued to operate safely and effectively. With two active floatels in place as of November, we have demonstrated a practical solution that provides high-end and comfortable living space for our workers.
Environmental Stewardship
Our Marine Mammal Monitoring Program — armed with hydroacoustic monitoring, exclusion zones, and shore‑based observation posts — has delivered tangible results. It gave us early warnings to pause activities when marine mammals entered exclusion zones; helping our crews make the right operational calls in real time.
Remediation of legacy materials from the old pulp mill continued this year, removing hundreds of thousands of tonnes of legacy waste and thus improving the site for both residents and wildlife in Howe Sound.
Creating Local Opportunity
Our Operator Training Program — run in partnership with the Squamish Nation Training & Trades Centre and BCIT — progressed well this year, with our first pool of graduates moving into full-time roles. These programs are one way we ensure long‑term local benefit and create durable careers.
Community Partnerships and Legacy Investing
Our Community Partnership Program (CPP) continued to support local non‑profits and community groups; this year the CPP reached a milestone, surpassing $1 million in grants since its inception. We helped fund sports programs, healthcare initiatives, emergency services, arts and culture, and youth development across the Sea‑to‑Sky corridor.
With more than half of the project’s development behind us, we are progressing closer every day to bringing more sustainable, responsibly produced Canadian energy to markets worldwide. Let’s see what 2026 has in store!
