Director IM/IT and Digitization

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.
The position will require some necessary travel to the EPC contractor’s office in Houston, Texas, USA. The location of work will be based in both Vancouver (Unit 900-1185 W Georgia Street) and Squamish, B.C. (38136 Cleveland Avenue).
Position
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of IM/IT and Digitization is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The Director is responsible for developing and executing Ready for Operations (RFO) activities including the company’s technology roadmap and ensuring our digital capabilities and infrastructure are secure, scalable, and fully aligned with business objectives. This role leads enterprise platform deployment, OT/IT integration, data governance, cybersecurity, and telecom infrastructure, while coordinating with global support services and vendors. Additionally, the Director will establish clear performance measures and foster collaboration across departments to ensure the successful transition to operations.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose IM/IT and digitization strategy that aligns with corporate and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, engineering, operations, and global IT teams to ensure seamless technology integration across the business.
- Advise executive management on technology risks, opportunities, and long-term digital transformation initiatives.
Systems Implementation & Project Execution
- Lead the planning and implementation of key enterprise systems, including ERP, EAM (e.g., SAP), document management, project controls, commissioning platforms, and SCADA integration.
- Drive the convergence of OT and IT systems to enable real-time data visibility and operational decision-making.
- Support future initiatives such as enterprise data warehouse (EDW), digital twin solutions, predictive analytics, and advanced asset management strategies.
- Ensure technology projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet operational readiness requirements.
Telecom & Infrastructure
- Design and oversee and deployment of telecom and network infrastructure required to support LNG plant operations and remote connectivity.
- Ensure availability and reliability of telecom systems including fiber, microwave, satellite, LTE/5G, radio communications, and VPN.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure telecom readiness from early construction through commissioning.
Global Support & Vendor Management
- Collaborate within a global shared services model to ensure alignment and handover points between centralized IT services and local site support.
- Manage third-party vendors, systems integrators, and managed service providers.
- Define and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) and KPIs for IM/IT operations.
Governance, Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement robust cybersecurity policies, controls, and monitoring in line with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, IEC 62443)
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, licensing requirements, and data protection legislation.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, software licensing, and data protection laws.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to proactively mitigate vulnerabilities.
Required Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive IM/IT leadership experience, including at least 3 years at the director level or equivalent.
- Proven experience in leading technology delivery for greenfield or capital-intensive projects, preferably in the energy, LNG, or oil & gas sectors.
- Experience supporting greenfield or capital-intensive energy/infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success working within centralized global IT support models and managing multi-site operations.
- Experience implementing and overseeing cybersecurity programs aligned with industry frameworks.
Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in enterprise and operational systems (ERP, EAM, SCADA/ICS, document management)
- Strong knowledge of OT/IT convergence and digital operations in the energy sector.
- Experience delivering telecom infrastructure projects and managing complex vendor ecosystems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and change-management skills.

- The position is based at the Vancouver Office in and visits to the Site Project as required.
