Project Background
Woodfibre LNG is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility that will be constructed on the former Woodfibre pulp mill site in Nexwnéwu7ts Átlḵ’a7tsem (Howe Sound), approximately seven kilometres south of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish). The Project is located on the unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) within the traditional village known as Swiy̓át.
Woodfibre LNG is a privately held Canadian company that is a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation and is 30% owned by Enbridge. Woodfibre LNG will source its natural gas from Pacific Canbriam Energy, which has operations in Northeastern B.C. and is also a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation.
Woodfibre LNG has an Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction contract with McDermott International, and construction began in fall 2023. Substantial completion of the Project is expected by 2027. The facility will export approximately 2.1 million tonnes per annum of LNG.
