Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves constructing and operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The Technical Trainer must be an expert in the field of LNG Operations and possess solid technical aptitude. Additionally, the Technical Trainer needs to be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex subjects in a clear and interesting way.

The goal is to contribute to the development of WLNG Operations technical skills to meet organizational needs.

The Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing, delivering and assessing LNG specific and specialized training modules and reports.

The successful candidate reports directly to the Day Superintendent and will play an essential part in supporting the company through the construction phase of the project into operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Be responsible for the execution of the training, development and competency assurance for WLNG’s Operators in preparation of the LNG Facility Operations Readiness and Assurance Plan.
  • Assist in developing strategies and standard policies, processes and procedures for training delivery and competence assurance activities to ensure safe and successful incident free start-up of the LNG plant, as well as to contribute to the long-term reliability and integrity of the LNG facility.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of the vendor training requirements necessary for LNG facility commissioning, start up and steady state operations.
  • Assist in the development of job competency profile for each position within Production.
  • Be responsible for execution of the overall training, which includes competency assurance program implementation and Field Assessments for operations personnel, to ensure a highly competent workforce and in alignment with employees’ job competency profile and succession plan. 
  • Manage and plan the development, design, and approval of technical, safety and soft skills training modules and courses for the Production staff.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance measures, records and associated documentation and makes recommendations to improve training planning & delivery, assessment practices and verification activities.

HSSE

  • 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Actively promote high HSE standards Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
  • Knowledgeable in LNG facility or similar Oil & Gas Facilities in regard to Safe Work Practice’s compliance and performance. (PTW, Confined Space, Hot Works, and others.)

Required Experience

  • Technical Certification in qualifications at a technical level relative to the oil/gas industry
  • Minimum 5-10 years in Oil & Gas Production Facilities. APCI LNG experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Operations as a previous Operations Trainer role
  • Previous experience in providing training, coaching, and conducting assessments for Production Personnel. Competency Assessor accreditation preferred.
  • High Level expectancy for IT skills. Proficient in developing Training Material.
  • Knowledgeable in Training Competency Assurance Management Systems.
  • Knowledgeable in technical procedure development of Standard Operating Procedures.
