Woodfibre LNG emergency response capabilities

Blog

Apr 17, 2015

We’ve been receiving some inquiries about Woodfibre LNG’s firefighting capabilities in light of the dock fire at Squamish Terminals.

First and foremost, at Woodfibre LNG, we would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the many first responders and volunteers who worked to contain the fire at Squamish Terminals overnight, and to the many people, particularly at the District of Squamish, involved in supporting their efforts.

At Woodfibre LNG, safety is our number one priority, which is why should our project go ahead, we will have firefighting capabilities on land and on the water. In particular, we will have a tugboat equipped with firefighting capabilities at the Woodfibre site, and it will be available to respond should a similar incident occur in the future.

We have also been receiving some inquiries about the creosote coated piles located at the Woodfibre LNG site. We will remove about 3,000 creosote piles from the Woodfibre foreshore, and work with local groups to enhance fish habitat where we can.

Thank you again to everyone involved in responding to the fire at Squamish Terminals.
