Who We Are

Woodfibre LNG is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The company is in the pre-construction phase of a liquefied natural gas export facility on the site of a 100 year old pulp mill, about seven kilometers southwest of Squamish, between Vancouver and Whistler.

Woodfibre LNG is fully approved and shovel ready. The project has received three environmental approvals, including from the B.C. and Canadian governments, and from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). The project undertook a first-of-its-kind process of approval with the Squamish Nation. Woodfibre LNG is the first Canadian industrial project to acknowledge a non-treaty Nation as a full environmental regulator.

What We’re Doing

By using renewable hydroelectricity for power, Woodfibre LNG will export the world’s lowest-emission LNG. Woodfibre LNG’s commitment to the highest ESG standards means that over 70 per cent of its future through-put has been sold to BP Gas Marketing Ltd.

Once operational, Woodfibre LNG will produce 2.1 million tonnes of LNG per annum (MTPA) that will be shipped overseas to enable faster coal to gas switching and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

Woodfibre LNG will source its natural gas from sister company Pacific Canbriam Energy, which has operations in northeastern British Columbia. Pacific Canbriam Energy is the second North American producer to achieve EO100™ Standard Certification from Equitable Origin.

What’s Next?

Pre-construction work starts in 2022, major construction in 2023 and substantial completion will be in 2027.

In November 2021 Woodfibre LNG signed an Engineering Procurement Fabrication Construction (EPFC) contract with McDermott International, and issued a Notice to Proceed in April 2022.
