How to Enter
No purchase necessary. The Contest begins on November 6, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. and ends on November 27, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (PDT) (the “Submission Deadline”). To enter, visit woodfibrelng.ca/contest, complete the entry form and upload your photo as a digital file. Digital entries only will be accepted. Print entries will not be accepted.
Photos can be uploaded electronically as jpeg files; files should be at least 5 megapixels, or 2560 x 1950 pixels; image quality setting: high. Colour correction and tonal cast changes are acceptable; compositional changes, as well as added watermarks or signatures, will result in automatic disqualification. Entries that do not meet technical requirements will be automatically rejected.
Entries will be rejected if the entry form is not fully completed and the entry is not received by the Submission Deadline.
Eligibility
Contest is open to legal residents of Squamish, British Columbia, except employees (and those with whom such employees are domiciled) or agents of the Sponsor, its affiliates and their respective advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges. For any entrant who has not reached the age of majority, parent or guardian consent is necessary to enter the Contest. In the event it is discovered that you entered without consent from your parent or legal guardian, all entries will be void. For minors entering the Contest, the terms “You,” “entrant,” and “winner” mean parent or guardian of that person.
Entries are limited to individuals only; commercial enterprises and business entities are not eligible to enter the Contest. Submitted Photos must never have been previously published or accepted for publication in any media, exhibited publicly, or selected as a winner in any other contest.
Submission Requirements
You must have taken the Photo that you submit for the contest. You must have the consent of all individuals who are included in the Photo and consent from the individuals who own the personal property (i.e. the cottage) featured in the Photo. Photo cannot show background artwork or items (including but not limited to clothing, tools, and vehicles) bearing business, designer, or sports logos or designs.
You represent and warrant to Sponsor that any submitted Photo is not defamatory or obscene and does not violate the rights of any third parties or any applicable laws.
Contest Sponsor may disqualify any Photo that it deems, in its sole discretion, not to abide by any of the foregoing eligibility or submission requirements.
Intellectual Property
By entering the Content and submitting a Photo, you grant (and warrant that any individuals shown in the Photo grant) to Sponsor, its affiliated companies and each of their licensees, successors, and assigns (together, the “Licensees”), a royalty-free licence to edit, publish, use, and exploit the Photo, in whole or in part, for the Sponsor’s 2023 holiday card (print and digital), website and social media contest promotion, and 2023 holiday advertising, without attribution or compensation to you or any third party, other than the awarding of the prizes under this contest. You acknowledge that Licensees obtains the above noted rights to the Photo in the event you are selected for a prize and may modify the Photo; you hereby irrevocably waive all moral rights in connection with the Photo.
You warrant that you control all rights in the photo, and will maintain the ability to grant the foregoing license to Sponsor, free of any limitations, restrictions or third party obligations. If requested, all original material, including digital capture files, must be made available to Sponsor as a condition of receipt of a prize.
You agree that Sponsor and other Licensees shall have the right to determine the extent and manner of use of any submitted Photo in their sole discretion and are not obligated to use any Photo.
You agree that Sponsor is not responsible for return or preservation of any Photo.
The Prizes and Approximate Retail Values
There are three prizes available to be won:
- First place prize: $500 contribution to a non-profit selected by the Sponsor.
- Second place prize: $250 contribution to a non-profit selected by the Sponsor.
- Third place prize: $100 contribution to a non-profit selected by the Sponsor.
Prizes will consist of a tax receipt for the relevant donation and must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash. No substitutions will be made or accepted All incidental costs and expenses not specifically included in the prize descriptions shall be the sole responsibility of the prize winner. If the winner is a minor, such winner’s parent or legal guardian must accept the prize on their behalf.
Winner Selection
Winners of the prizes will be selected by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor intendeds to have the winners selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Sponsor who will judge and score all Photos submitted on the basis of originality, creativity, technical proficiency, and uniqueness appropriateness, and relevance to the Contest. However, Sponsor retains sole discretion as to its process of selecting prize winners.
Odds of a Photo being selected as the winner of a Prize depend on the number of entries received. Odds of a Photo being selected by the contest judges as the winner of a First, Second, or Third Prize depend on the number of entries received.
Winners will be announced along with the publication of their winning photo submission on December 5, 2023 at woodfibrelng.ca.
General Conditions
Entries not complying with these contest rules will be disqualified from winning a prize in the Sponsors sole discretion.
No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected winners.
This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Void where prohibited by law.
The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal.
Selected winners (or winner’s parent or legal guardian if winner is a minor) will be required to sign and return a standard Declaration, Liability and Publicity Release, releasing the Sponsor, prize suppliers, and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, and the contest judges, from any and all liability arising directly or indirectly from this contest, participation in contest related activities, the awarding of a prize, and the use or misuse of any prize.
By entering the contest, selected winners agree to comply with these official contest rules and agree to the publication, reproduction, and/or other use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the contest, and/or personal photograph or other likeness without further compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast, or digital.
The Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, or delayed entries. Without limitation, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges will not be liable for the failure of any entry or Photo to be received.
The Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw or amend this contest in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind without prior notice or obligation.
By entering this contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing, and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry only for the purpose of administering the contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy found at woodfibrelng.ca, unless the entrant otherwise agrees.
