Reconciliation in Action

We work to advance reconciliation through shared goals of cultural and environmental preservation alongside economic growth and diversification. Woodfibre LNG is grateful and proud to have Squamish Nation as both a project partner and an environmental regulator.

Fulfilling our Commitments

Woodfibre LNG is the first industrial project in Canada to recognize a non-treaty Indigenous government, the Squamish Nation, as a regulator on our Project alongside the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada.

Creating Local Opportunity

We are committed to ensuring local individuals and businesses benefit from our Project, with a priority to qualified Squamish Nation members first, then Squamish residents, followed by the rest of BC and Canada.

Construction Phase

Setting a New Standard for Sustainable LNG

The Woodfibre LNG Project is a state-of-the-art LNG export facility being constructed on the historical site of Swiy̓ át, a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) village, in Nexwnéwu7ts Átlḵ’a7tsem (Howe Sound). Through advancing reconciliation as the first industrial project in Canada to recognize a non-treaty Indigenous government as a regulator and by building the world’s first net zero LNG facility, Woodfibre LNG is working to set a new standard for sustainability in the industry.

Our Canada.
Our Future.

Powered by renewable hydroelectricity, Woodfibre LNG is designed to be among the lowest carbon intensive LNG export facilities in the world. Nature based carbon offsets are being used to account for any remaining GHG emissions and we continue to explore new technology to reduce overall emissions even further. Once operational, Woodfibre LNG’s exports to Asia will serve as a lower emission fuel to support the global energy transition.
